The amount of project funding passing through www.theFundingProject.Com has now topped the £60,000,000 mark.

Since it was first adopted by the Government Office for the South West in 2004, the system has been using SARA to processing problems and responses continuously and expanded to cover Wales, Suffolk, Norfolk, West Sussex and parts of Lincolnshire.

6400 responses have now been processed, and this represents £60M in government funding, from various streams such as SSCF, HORD, ASB, District Councils etc.

Safer Neighbourhood Policing Online Success

Safer Neighbourhood Teams are now an established feature of policing in England and Wales. But how to co-ordinate the activity and link up users, when there are multi-agencies and involves people outside the police force.

Suffolk police have successfully piloted funding project, as an online Problem Solving service for Neighbourhood Policing, and shown that the system can be used seamlessly across CDRP and Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

All members of all teams get online visibility of what everyone else is doing – in their team, other teams in their area, and from other areas.

Solution Of the Month - "Honnington Team Day"

Partnership: Western Suffolk CDRP

Problem: Over recent months Haverhill has seen an increase in violence involving young people and "Gang Culture" is becoming more prevalent both in the town centre and the two main estates, Chalkstone and Clements

Response: Following on from the success of a similar day last year organised by Youth Offending Service targeting eight to thirteen year olds, we intend to target the older group, fourteen to seventeen, who are involved/affected by events in the town. We are looking at taking a group of about thirty young people from as many different areas and groups to Honnington RAF base. We would get them involved in "Team Building" exercises on the day run by the base Physical Training Instructors culminating in "Assault Course Challenge".The staff would talk about lifestyle and how "Team Work" is an integral part of modern life not just the forces. They would also look at physical fitness.
